Pine Creek Falls is a fun 3.0 mile round trip hike to an impressive waterfall on Pine Creek near Livingston MT. It’s not a very challenging hike, but it does have a good bit of rocky terrain and climbs almost 600 feet up to the falls. Following the falls, the trail becomes steeper and more rocky, and continues an additional 8+ miles and nearly 3,000 feet of elevation to Pine Creek Lake.
The Falls hike is through beautiful old growth forest along Pine Creek. There are a couple of bridges crossing the creek, and ample opportunities to climb down the bank to get a closer look at the creek.
The trail runs through an area which has several large areas of broken off granite and rubble piles that make a great contrast with the greenery from the forest.
The rocks that are close to the creek are covered with green moss making pictures by the creek very scenic.
